What are the Different Types of Events?

Schedule

A Schedule books time to visit a client. Schedules show up on the Calendars of the Caregivers and Clients involved. The system will alert you to schedule conflicts if a Schedule
is scheduled during the same time period as another Appointment or Schedule.

Example: If you want to book a Homemaker visit for a Client with a Caregiver, you would create a schedule for the visit. Schedules are carried through to Payroll and
Billing.

Non-Visit Schedule

In many cases, you will want to create schedules for your caregivers where there is no client. These non-visit schedules may be for training or orientation sessions at the
office, where no client is involved. If you wish to use Companion to pay for Vacation or other paid time off, you can use non-visit schedules to track this as well.

Non-visit schedules in Companion will have the office recorded as the "client" for the schedule.

Recurring Event

Schedules, Appointments and Tasks that occur on a regular basis can be set up to be created automatically in a recurring pattern. A recurring Schedule, Task or Appointment consists of a Recurrence
Master record that outlines the details for the event and the pattern that defines how events will be created on a recurring basis over a specified period of time. Individual
events are automatically created using the Recurrence Master record as a template.

Appointment

An appointment books time to complete a certain job. Appointments show up on the Calendars of all those involved. The system will alert you to schedule conflicts if an
Appointment is scheduled during the same time period as another Appointment or Schedule. (You will not be alerted to a schedule conflict if an Appointment is scheduled
during the same time period as a Task or Documented Event, as these events do not book time on the calendar.)

Example: As an office staff person, you may book a lunch meeting with a contact who is a good referral source for your company; or you may book an assessment visit with a
Client for yourself or another Office Staff person.

Appointments cannot be processed through Billing and/or Payroll. If the visit involves a billable service, you should set up a schedule.

Task

A Task serves as a reminder to complete a certain job. Although added Tasks show up on the calendars of those involved, they do not book time away. Therefore, the system
will not alert you to schedule conflicts if a Task is scheduled during the same time period as another calendar item. If you wish to book time away you must add an
Appointment, not a Task.
